Do they measure, pulse, heart beat, caloric expenditure or just steps taken?
The Walkin Buddy and LS 2000 provides steps only. The Life Stepper series has two other models. The LS 6510 which records steps, distance, and has a stop watch and clock. The LS 7510 records steps, distance, and calories. A Pedometer does not measure pulse or heartbeat.
I'm really interested in success stories so I can justify the expense, do you have some to share?
From an elementary PE teacher:
I have been using them EVERY DAY for 2 years at the elementary level. The kids love them and still ask to wear them every day. I use them for Grades 3-5. I also record data to assess student effort and achievement. Now, I have an objective record that I can take to the parents. Plus, I reward the students for their achievement with the toe tokens. The students work so hard to win tokens.
From a High School teacher:
The high school has some great success stories including one I remember explaining about an overweight girl at the high school who unmotivated and hated to wear a heart monitor. She was challenged by her PE teacher to wear her "stepper" for the entire day to see who could get the most steps. They had fun going back and forth throughout the year. This challenge developed a relationship with the teacher that led this girl to invite the teacher to her graduation party. The teacher gave the student a "life stepper" pedometer for her graduation gift. Recently the student saw the teacher and said she wears her "Life Stepper" every day so she can reach her daily step goal.
How much time do you lose in putting them on, taking them off, putting away, etc.?
The steppers only take seconds to put on and take off. They store in a simple storage case.
Are they dependable?
Walk4life backs their products fully. If you have a problem, it gets solved or your pedometer is replaced.
Are there any specific activities you can do with the pedometers?
